IS NOTHING FRIGGIN’ SACRED!!!!!!!

i just heard “pressure drop” by the clash on a nissan commercial.
IS NOTHING FRIGGIN’ SACRED!!!!!!!

so tomorrow’s the 27th. i’ll be welcoming my new niece (and only niece for that matter) sometime tomorrow. i’m more excited about it than rosie o’donnell on steak nite at golden corrall. i also got three new dvd’s today (the last waltz, rushmore and imax’s everest documentary), have won a bunch of records off of ebay for mega cheap in the past 4-5 days, and just won a technics turntable worth about $150 for $25 yesterday. shimmy shimmy shake!
the top secret project is going alarmingly well and fairly fast. it just may be that i can reveal what i’m up to in the next couple of weeks. until then, i’d love to hear your best guesses (carie can’t play).
i’ll be tied up doing uncle things i guess on friday, so i’m giving you the shuffle a couple of days early. deal wit’it.
1. tommy gun – the clash (give ‘em enough rope)
2. waiting to derail – whiskeytown (strangers almanac)
3. 1972 – josh rouse (1972) “we’re going through some changes…”
4. downtown money waster – the black crowes (amorica)
5. this is all i ask – nat king cole (the very thought of you)
6. 10,000 angels – edie brickell (ghost of a dog)
7. welcome to the goodtimes – the black crowes (by your side) “welcome to the goodtimes honey, did you bring your own parade?”
8. dead leaves and the dirty ground – the white stripes (white blood cells)
9. the late greats – wilco (a ghost is born)
10. doctor robert – the beatles (revolver) “well, well, well, you’re feeling fine. well, well, well he’ll make you.”
i can’t understand why none of my new music shows up. you’d think i only had the black crowes, ryan adams and wilco on my ipod. so untrue…
seacrest out.

i have no idea what my brother will have my niece call me, but i’m going to find out very soon.
little brother & his wife have a date at the delivery room this thursday (THE 27TH!!!!!) at 6.30a and should be showing off ms. kaya rose dominey by dinner.
the cool thing about this being scheduled is that my dad might be able to make the trip up from texas in time for the delivery which i think will mean a ton to him (and my brother). it also means i don’t have to get a middle of the nite call telling me that it’s time to pack up and head to knoxville.
happy day, happy day!!

i climbed back on the workout horse this week after being off for a couple of weeks thanks to bronchitis. it’s amazing what two weeks will do to you. running stairs sucks. pushups suck. lunges suck. running sucks. frankly it all sucks, but i know that it’s gonna get me to my punching weight, so i’m seeing it through.
don’t have time to do any updating, plus you guys know that most of my week has been nothing but new music and hockey. other than that, i am on the verge of possibly making the 3rd biggest decision of my whole life over the next couple of months. more details as i’m allowed to discuss it. secrets, secrets…
here’s the shuffle:
1. achin’ to be – the replacements (all for nothing), this is frickin’ appropriate.
2. tennessee square – whiskeytown (faithless street reissue)
3. into the fire – bruce springsteen (the rising)
4. sugarplums – wilco (yankee hotel foxtrot demos). i don’t really know the name of it, but it seems right.
5. in a future age – wilco – summer teeth
6. i am waiting – rolling stones (rushmore soundtrack)
7. tina toledo’s street walkin’ blues – ryan adams (gold)
8. tennessee square – whiskeytown (rural free delivery). what are the odds of the same damn song from two different albums, out of 3679 available songs, being played within 6 songs of each other? holy weirdout, batman.
9. stop crying – bobby bare, jr (the longest meow)
10. the bad actress – josh ritter (hello starling – limited edition)
nothing new. weird.
speaking of new, i bought the new josh ritter record yesterday (i know. how much new music can one dude handle?). you need to drop everything and go buy this record. seriously, why are you still sitting here reading? go buy it.

take me out to the hockey game
sit me down with a beer…
hockey season officially begins for me tonite. sure, the preds played on sunday afternoon (they won). but they weren’t on tv, they weren’t at home, and i couldn’t listen to much of it on the radio, so i wasn’t that fired up about it.
however…the puck drops in less than 8 hours for the home preseason opener and the excitement’s starting to build. i can smell the rink, i can feel the chill in the air, i can hear the skates on the ice.
it’s time to lace ‘em up, boys. the world’s greatest game is officially back in season.
and it’s about time.

i think that bwe would allow me to admit that i’ve kinda got a crush on alicia silverstone. who wouldn’t? she’s pretty hot, she’s pretty funny, and she’s a vegetarian.
don’t believe me?
