changing the world, one burrito at a time

August.1.07

i read an article last nite about these guys in l.a.. maybe i’m inspired because i just got a bike. maybe i’m inspired by something so simple that anyone can do it. maybe i just want to start pulling my weight and doing my part to make nashville a better place and to be a better example of Christ’s compassion and love. regardless, i’m trying to get some friends together to give this a shot. i haven’t worked out the logistics yet. hell, i just read about it last nite. my church is kinda close to downtown and has a kitchen, but i haven’t been able to ask anyone there if i can use it. i think that my “friend” that manages camino real in antioch would help me get burrito supplies at wholesale, but i haven’t asked him either. either way, i’m going to do my best to start this soon, even if it’s just one nite a month. baby steps.

i’d love for you to help me. if you are interested in helping in any way, whether it’s cooking & preparing, delivering, helping me raise money or helping me in other ways – even if it’s just an idea or suggestion or direction towards a resource, please comment here or email me at newtondominey((at))comcast((dot))net.

(edit: just reread what i wrote and don’t want to leave the impression that this is inherently some sort of religiously affiliated outreach. we might use my church, we might not. regardless, there will be no organized sermonizing or message delivering other than “i hope this makes you feel better and that you know that someone out there’s thinking about and cares about you.” if you’re atheist, agnostic, worship dogs, cats or the cracked window pane in your upstairs bedroom doesn’t matter to me. i just want you to be involved.)
